The Future of the Region's Economic Development
“Connected Economies for a Stronger Europe” is the title of the 2026 Economic Conference, organized by the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro. This prestigious regional event will focus on advancing economic integration, strengthening regional cooperation, and fostering the conditions for stronger, more competitive, and sustainable growth across the Western Balkans on their path towards European Union.
This year’s conference holds particular significance as it is taking place in the year of Montenegro’s chairmanship of the Berlin Process. At a time of profound economic changes and global challenges, bringing together representatives of the business community, institutions, international organizations, and decision-makers from Montenegro, the Western Balkans, and the European Union represents a key opportunity to exchange ideas and jointly shape a vision for future development.
During the conference, which will be held at the Splendid Hotel on 30 September and 1 October, key issues concerning the future of the region’s economic development will be addressed - from advancing the Common Regional Market and strengthening the integration of the Western Balkans with the European Union, to developing transport and economic corridors, improving access to European funds, enhancing competitiveness, and ensuring stronger integration of companies from the region into European value chains. The series of discussions entitled “Business Behind the Scenes: Stories That Inspire” will feature the experiences of established and successful business leaders from Montenegro and the region.
The anniversary conference will also be accompanied by several important events. First and foremost, a Memorandum of Cooperation will be signed between the Chamber of Economy and the Ministry of European Affairs, establishing a framework for cooperation aimed at ensuring the timely and high-quality preparation of Montenegro’s economy for operating within the European Union’s Single Market following Montenegro’s accession to the EU, through the implementation of the joint B4EU initiative.
In parallel with the Economic Conference, a meeting will be held on 1 October in cooperation with the Western Balkans Chamber Investment Forum. The meeting will bring together members of the KIF Business Council, representatives of the European Commission, governments, and organizations from the region. It will focus on monitoring the implementation of the Common Regional Market and the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, regional value chains, trade barriers, and the impact of EU legislation on the business environment.
The conference programme will also include a Business Forum bringing together Montenegrin and Polish business representatives.
