The first Civil Society Sounding Board of the Regional Climate Partnership (RCP) Germany–Western Balkans took place on 17 June 2026, bringing together representatives of civil society organisations to discuss priorities, opportunities for engagement and future cooperation.
Selected representatives of German civil society organisations exchanged views on the implementation of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans and explored opportunities to strengthen civil society engagement within the Regional Climate Partnership. Discussions highlighted the importance of increasing the visibility of the Partnership’s achievements, improving access to funding and cooperation opportunities for local organisations, and involving civil society more closely in monitoring progress and shaping future priorities.
The Sounding Board forms part of the Partnership’s efforts to promote an inclusive and multi-stakeholder approach to the green transition in the Western Balkans. A second meeting is planned for autumn 2026, with a focus on the participation of organisations from across the region.
The Regional Climate Partnership Germany – Western Balkans was launched under the Berlin Process and supports the implementation of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans through regional cooperation, policy dialogue and investment-oriented action. The RCP Secretariat, implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), serves as a central contact point for stakeholders and is available to answer questions, facilitate cooperation, and provide information on the Partnership.
